Growing up in a small town in New Jersey where there wasn’t much to do, Carmel discovered she had a love for music. Coming from a traditional family where education was valued and artistic endeavors were viewed as hobbies, Carmel’s passion for music had to wait. It was the death of her brother Lou, with whom she shared a deep connection, that brought her back to her roots of music.
Carmel began writing songs as a way to deal with the pain, turning tragedy into something beautiful. She met Grammy award-winning producer and engineer Val Garay (Kim Carnes, James Taylor, Neil Diamond, Linda Ronstadt), who was instantly won over by her vocal tone and style. Soon after, award winning songwriter and celebrity vocal coach Wendy Parr joined in, the trio was created and the magic began.
Turn It Up, Carmel’s debut EP, features six deeply personal songs combining old school song craft and melodies that draw you in with a modern pop vibe.
“I Saw Daddy Kissing Santa Claus,” Carmel’s current holiday release, is a celebration of love and families of all kinds. “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” last year’s Christmas duet with Eddie Money, still garners media attention and spins every holiday season on Sirius XM Holly Radio, Hot AC & Adult Contemporary.
Music continues to be Carmel’s way of telling her stories to love, support and encourage others to be strong and know they are not alone. She is currently in the studio working on her next EP, with an estimated release date of early 2017.
